California driving tickets and navy DEP?

I got pulled over and ticketed for not having my lights on and having my permit with me and am in the DEP for the Navy. I am an emancipated minor and just turned 17 in may. Do you know what affect this has and what I have to do. I know I have to tell my recruiter but it wont ruin my chances right? I just got my car and permit and thought my backpack was in my car with all my paperwork but turns out it wasn't. I also just got the car and was coming home from a movie where it was really well lit and being a new driver my interior lights were on but not far enough to turn my headlights on i kinda just overlooked it because i was pulling out of the parking lot and right when i noticed I couldn't really see the lines i got pulled over. Its an 1986 pickup stick shift if that helps explain the lights aspect. So in conclusion i just wanted to know like I will just have to pay my ticket, which I plan too. and then get it waived through the Navy?
