How long do periods last for athletes?

I am 14 years old and started my period for the 1st time yesterday. I have been playing volleyball for 9 years and have an athletic body, that's why I started so late. I wanted to know how long your period last because I do not want to wear a tampon and I don't want the pad to be seen through my tiny biker shorts. I have volleyball tomorrow. Will it be gone by then?
